McMichael High School was a recipient of the education-based athletics grant for the 2019-2020 school year. Grant funds were used to facilitate their “Bridge the Gap McMichael” initiative. Equipment was purchased to prevent, educate, and rehabilitate student-athletes, with a specific focus on lower body extremities, given the high prevalence of these injuries in past athletic seasons. Some goals accomplished through this initiative were: returning athletes to playing healthy and injury-free, increased participation in all sports, increased participation in sports after injury, increased enrollment in healthy living courses, and decreased lower body injuries in student-athletes.
